Google to Sunset Asset Group-Level Data for Legacy PMax Campaigns

Search specialist Anu Adegbola spotted a quiet but critical change: Google Ads will retire legacy Asset Group-level data for Performance Max campaigns created before March 2025.

Starting August 15, 2025, older asset groups will no longer show granular performance breakdowns like impressions, conversions, and engagement by creative asset. Instead, all reporting will shift to the new consolidated asset view introduced this spring.

What’s going away:

  • Individual asset metrics in legacy campaigns
  • Historical performance views per image, video, and headline
  • CSV downloads of old asset reports

What to do:

  • Download your historical Asset Group performance before August 14
  • Transition to the new Asset Library-based creative tracking
  • Use the “Asset insights” dashboard for performance moving forward

Why it matters: If you’ve been using PMax for creative testing, don’t lose your historical benchmarks—archive them before the switchover.
